Legacy Project

Exploring Ecology Underfoot

In 2021, community members participated in the Exploring Ecology Through Place program, a series of four workshops delivered in partnership with Richmond Public Library. These four workshops allowed participants to create site-responsive projects in Richmond’s green spaces through stopping and observing their everyday surroundings more closely. The works displayed here, together, make up a story of all that was learned when participants took a moment to stop and observe their everyday surroundings more closely. Each banner represents one of the four workshop concepts: Printing with Ocean Life, Cyanotype Printing, Field Book Making and StoryWalks™. Each program centred questions, encouraging curiosity about the environment. The aim of this program was to support community members in connecting with their surroundings and with one another by asking “when you look down and look closely, walking around your neighbourhood, what can you see?”
